The Man Booker longlisted Betty Trask Prize winning author, Louise Dean, known for her ‘dark and fearless’ novels has launched an online novelists ‘apprenticeship’ at www.kritikme.com.
Kritikme.com launched in April, and is taking off, particularly amongst women. Louise has 62 writers at work on their novels with Kritikme included film critics, journalists and magazine writers and working mums. Louise describes it as the novel-writing plan for busy people.
Some of her writers are published and writing second novels with Kritikme (one is a Sunday Times bestselling author) and some are aspiring novelists with no experience but a yen to get that damn novel done. The plan requires an hour a day writing time and fifteen mins to enjoy the materials which could be viewed or read on the daily commute via your beloved handheld device. The neatly designed online digital platform offers daily coaching and support for writers to finish their first drafts in ninety days
Louise decided to coach by writing her fifth novel ‘live’ to show how it’s done, warts and all. Along with the nicely paced inspirational daily guidance, drawing on great authors and showing how they wrote their books, Louise offers personal one to one support via online coaching. The coaching is down to earth, humourous, fun and effective and Louise has some form as a former Arvon tutor.
Kritikme has been recommended by Mslexia, and featured in The Bookseller.
So this is new. With Kritikme you have a bonafide coach, a pretty platform, a democratic principle, and a revolutionary idea – you can learn to write – plus a vibrant supportive community. There are 14 customer reviews on our Facebook page, all of which are five-star and one of the Kritikme writers describes the Novel in 90 Plan as ‘utterly thrilling’.
It’s good to see women juggling jobs, families and writing books with good humour, supported by an author at work also with a day job (in the construction industry) and three teenage children. According to Louise, who was writing full-time but says she became too ‘grumpy’ writing solo, the writing’s better for less time at the desk counterintuitively, once you sort your method.
Kritikme gives sold hand-holding and guidance to get things straight from the start following up with carefully timed daily interventions, stretching your ambitions and technique, ensuring writers slam that manuscript down on the desk in 90 days. If you’d like to get your novel done by the end of the year, there’s still time!
